'Tis the season to do some drawings

KENZA HAS RETURNED. (i may have copied kai's dramatic entrance because i couldn't find a good way to start this and too hyped for KFP3 whoops.)

Happy holidays! ;D

Um ya, so I was on Tumblr. And I've already posted some of these on there along with my long list of spam. XD Whoops again. But somehow the posts I make myself get so many notes on them (likes/reblogs) and speaking of which, I made another random post which got *drumroll* 150+ notes. HOW? Yeah so basically I was searching for Kung Fu Panda 3 transparency images (*cough* for Dragon_Warrior_Po on Scratch *cough*) and I came across this image of Po and Tigress (omg she actually has nunchucks i died) and the fandom hadn't seen it, so I posted it and it went viral. O.o I felt like I'd been run over by notes. Ahaha, I'm so fabulous everyone likes me. (...nAH, just kidding)

Oh it looks like I mostly only did fanart again. WHOOPS. It was unintentional.
(Actually tbh, I kind of had art block since I hadn't drawn in ages so I just decided to draw fanart because it's easy. :P)
I drew Olaf as well, but forgot to photograph the picture and now it's the evening so there's no light. Whoops again.

Lei Lei is SO adorable. I couldn't resist.
Stripy babyyyyyy.
Can't draw the Tigress action figurine. >.<
Note to self: never shade with an ink pen with
a tip of 0.05 or higher. 'Cause it doesn't work out.
(OH and if you need something cute from this
little cutie just look at this. ^^')

I made this Olaf plate. Some people are worth melting
for is probably my favourite Olaf quote. :3

(SORRY NOT SORRY.) Hm I was going to fit in the rest of
the Furious Five, Mr. Ping and Shifu, but eh there wasn't
much space and I was too lazy. XD So I just did
these two nerds (asajsdjhbaybklmdu Tigress's winter
feast outfit is SO cool).

Just been practising for this KFP3 prompt thing
on Tumblr (draw yourself as a KFP character).
Eh this one doesn't resemble me much apart
from the fur coat and fingerless gloves. :P
I've done lots of pictures of this fursona... this
one is probably my favourite. :3 I was going
to re-draw this digitally but my Wacom isn't
working as it should, so I have to download
the whole driver thing again until I can use the
desktop. -_- I based this a bit off Su Wu, Mei Ling
and Tigress (KFP felines ;D).
(Bad photo, I know) Ta-da, my KFP fursona again
because I'm actually happy with how this one
turned out. Oh and nunchucks. The markings are
different on this one because I changed them
so they'd look more like a leopard/snow leopard. :3
I like this character so much now idek. XD

(Another bad photo) I crossed out the top one
because the left eye totally failed and I
couldn't correct it. >.< Soo this is meant to
be Fariza. Still can't get her 100% accurate. ;-;
I used Anna as a reference to help me with the top
right one. I'm still debating with myself over
Fariza's design. :o Still can't draw people well.
(I drew this back in September and forgot to
share it, so naturally it's lost it's "shine". XD)

Feedback is very much appreciated! Also, on another note, I was thinking of drawing either a tiger, one of my OCs again, or Jasmine (Aladdin) ... any preferences? :D

Haku ~ Birthday Card

So I promised I'd post a picture of the card! :D (Actually I've managed to post this earlier than I thought I would. XD)

It's a card for my friend irl. :3 Yes it's Haku. From Spirited Away. That awesome Studio Ghibli anime film.

This is the entire thing. (I didn't know how else to put that. XD)

And close-up.

I don't know what else to say. Lol. XD Except that Spirited Away is totally worth the watch. (Haku is so awesome btw! :D)
And that scene with Yubaba and Haku discussing Yubaba's baby was hilarious. This. It was too funny not to share. Anyone agree? XD Like, Yubaba gets in a rage and starts breathing fire all over Haku, while Haku just remains calm as if this is just a normal old day in his life. XD

(Oh yeah, Haku's hair is actually black, but here it's supposed to be reflecting the sun setting. :P)

(You might recognise the letter font. XD)

(Inktober 2015) Have some fanart.

Now the party don't start 'til I walk in. (Lol jk. XD) Nevertheless, I am back.

aNYWAY! I just decided to dump some art here that I did for the last few days of Inktober. (wow, I didn't do much art. :/) Oh yeah! I'm working on a birthday card for someone IRL, so I'll probably upload that shortly (or not XD). And I have SO many writings to share - I might end up clogging my writing blog. XD And hopefully I'm going to get on Scratch soon.

I bet you guys were totally expecting this. XD But I couldn't
do Inktober without doing Po. So yeah this happened.
I used a hat motif, because I liked the idea, and I couldn't
chose between so many pictures. Wow that inking was
fun. ;D Oh, and Disc of Destruction (that joke never gets
old 8D)
And then I did Go Go Tomago (Big Hero 6)! I love her
so much (like, welcome to the nerd lab, and her gum XD)
I think I need more practise drawing her though. :3

Wow I so wish I had more art. In fact, I thought I did. XD

Prezzie (or present?)

Since I already gave a huge update on my last post, I don't have much news from my side today (lol XD) except for the fact that it's half term for me very soon. Like, YEEAAAH I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!! 8DD This is me.
*cough* Anyway...! :D

This prezzie (present, gift, whatever, I'll say prezzie because unfortunately it's not a major gift - ahh I'm so sorry, school has been making me lag! ;-;) is for Captain Nathat (love the name btw <3), i.e. the amazing Nattie, for her birthday! :D (This still isn't enough to repay you for all those amazing art requests you've given me since though. D:) So, it's Spirit from Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron! (which I still need to watch, I mean I'm obsessed with DreamWorks, yet I still haven't watched this one, I mean seriously (!) :O and it looks like a totally awesome movie, and it is of course) because I know you like the film, and horses of course. ;D Obviously I didn't do that great, I mean, you'd probably be able to see all my mistakes on impact, so. XD But it was so fun to draw! ^^

It's not much, but hope you like it anyway! :3 Happy birthday! (for yesterday! :D)

Btw, Nattie has a blog, and it's SO cool! It's really worth checking out. If you're interested, please do take a look and leave a nice comment (click here). :D (the gifs crack me up X'D)

(PS I know there are lots of things I should be replying to, but I have limited time right now so I'm afraid I can't. If I haven't replied to some of you, please don't be impatient - I promise I'll try to get there in the end when I can! :D)

Inktober Drawings

Okay, so I am back (kind of) and I've come to post some stuff that's been collecting up since I last posted.

I know I haven't replied to some comments and commented on posts (apologies! D:), but I thought I might as well at least post something, since the last time I posted here was (wow) a whopping 43 days and sure, that was like, a really long time ago... :O

So I've been doing the (awesome) Inktober challenge (or part of it anyway) and I thought I'd post what I made (tbh, not much XD). For anyone who doesn't know, Inktober is a drawing challenge in which you make an ink drawing (of anything at all) for every day of October (or as much as you can do).

Oh yeah, I got a Tumblr. It's (to no one's surprise).

Okay enough of my super long news report and onto the art...

Elsa was the first idea that came to me, so! ;D I really enjoyed doing this
one (even though I utterly failed on the shading -.-). The one on the
left is from Frozen Fever (the Frozen short I really badly want to watch >.<)
and the one on the right is from the ice palace scene (like, that scene when
Anna sees the ice palace for the first time :3). The right one
(as you can tell) didn't turn out great. O.O
Oh yeah, and signatures, because why not?

I spent ages deciding what to do for Tigress and then I was like, omg
I know that bit where Po tells Tigress the truth in KFP 2 (lol I always do things
from the sequel XD) and, well, yeah I did this. :P Okie, so the one on the
left is okay, but the one on the right I think I could've done
better on. :3 (#IAmObsessedWithTigressButIHaveToDrawHer

edit: the one on the right is awful. Don't look at it. Please. Heck, the right eye is too big

This is supposed to be Fariza, like, my OC, a character from
the story I'm writing and narrator of the SN short I wrote for last year's
NaNoWriMo. Hm, okay, so first off, this looks bad even though
I did somehow did capture her appearance. I accidentally made her
look too young and lots of it is off, so. XD (I always critique my artwork.)

Hiccup and Astrid (in HTTYD2) because these two dorks are awesome.
(they're my otp for httyd) I had a lot of fun with this! :D Even though it took
a really long time to finish. There are some mistakes (which I
won't mention since I don't want to ruin the overall effect XD) and stuff,
but I think I'm happy with it. ;D

edit: might as well say now that it was Hiccup's mouth I ruined when doing it in ink (it's too obvious not to notice)

Thanks for viewing! Feedback is always appreciated. :D

(I may be listening to Kung Fu Fighting. My excuse is that the Gummy Bear Song was stuck in my head.)

Illustrated Fandom Quotes

It's another bunch of fanart! XD Well, tbh, these were all done before or during the summer holidays and I (sort of) forgot to share them. Actually, I've been dying to just put these here on my blog. XD The ones of Tigress and the first one of Elsa are already on my DeviantART, but the rest aren't.

Also, an extra notice! :D I recently did an awesome guest post collab with Megan who runs the fantastic blog, Megan's Mega Blog! If you have the time, please do check out her part of the collab, What's in my Sketchbook, just by clicking here! You can find mine, My Terrific Ten Art Tips, over at her blog by clicking here. We worked really hard on this collab and we'd be glad if you could check out our posts and leave a nice comment! <3

I think I did this at the beginning of August. It took SO
long, all the details and everything, and probably
because I'd never done the Wolf Boss before. In case
you don't know, he's Shen's second in command in
Kung Fu Panda 2. :3 (I still laugh so hard at that part when
Shen says "the Year of the Peacock begins now!" and the
Wolf Boss tells him it's the middle of the year. Then Shen
threatens him and he's like "and this is the year, of course,
of the Peacock. Happy New Year, sir."
Someone help, I'm going to crack up again. X'D)

YES I drew Shen. >:D This was in the scene
in the fireworks factory when Shen and the
Soothsayer were discussing Shen's parents. :3
(It was somewhere after the part where Po and the
Furious Five escaped the falling tower
(by jumping onto the roof and flying XD))

This is my favourite. X3 I've already done this one before, nearly a
year ago (maybe you remember I posted the uncoloured
version and then the coloured version), but I wanted to
redo it, because there are so many mistakes in the old one
and besides, this is from one of my favourite scenes in
KFP 2 (the boat scene with Tigress and Po about their
discussions about the hardcore and so on ;3) I did this
one in watercolours.

Tigress again! :D This was something I started way before
the summer holidays but never got round to finishing it. Then
during the holidays, I decided to finish and edit it, because the
colouring was off. "That... was pretty hardcore" is  something
she says to Po after the cannon ball scene (one of the best
moments in Kung Fu Panda 2). I could've done better on
the shading of her outfit. XD

edit: this is so uggglllyyyy xD

So, Elsa! (For once) I'm happy with how this turned
out. :D I had so much fun with the hair. For the lighting,
I coloured it in lightly in those areas and rubbed it out slightly
with the sharp end of a rubber (that trick works SO well! :O)
Oh yeah, I know the snowflakes are off, but nvm. XD

I did this ages ago - I think it was in June. I found a reference
and my immediate reaction was Imma draw this right now. :O
It was fun! I'm wondering whether it would've looked better with
"Here I stand in the light of day" rather than "Let the storm
rage on" though. :P

Any feedback or constructive criticism would be appreciated as always! :D

What's in my Sketchbook ~ Guest Post with Megan's Mega Blog

Hi guys! My name is Megan and I'm the author of Megans Mega Blog. I run a creative lifestyle blog featuring everything from fashion design and art, to baking and celebrating. Today I'm putting my own twist on the 'What's in my Backpack' post and I'll be showing you 'What's in my Sketchbook'! You'll be getting a sneak peek of some of my trial runs, finished pieces and technique pages of artwork.

The first page is full of different sorts of flowers as well as some leaves and bits of greenery. This is one of the pages in my sketchbook where I practice a particular technique or draw a specific subject. I recommend doing this every now and then to help you to learn new styles. Once you've practiced it several times, you can start to involve it in your art. A great starting point for this method is to use references to inspire your drawings. At first I copied out some elements from my colouring books then had a go at creating my own flowers, based on them.

Recently I have been trying out the kawaii style so here is a kawaii panda drew. Instead of following a tutorial, I decided to look up images of kawaii pandas before putting pen to paper. I often look at the best illustrations I can find and mix them up whilst drawing until I am happy with my version of the picture. This way I'm not copying the original artists but I am being inspired by their work and creating a unique piece. I thought I would add a few cute touches to my panda by drawing a heart shaped patch patch on it's chest and putting light pink blush on it's cheeks. I needed to practice kawaii faces so I looked up kawaii features and used them to decorate a heart-shaped balloon.

I felt like I still needed to practice the kawaii style, so I turned the page and began work on a pastel pink animal. This wasn't an original drawing of mine, this time I copied someone else's picture. It's OK to copy images off of the internet sometimes, as long as it is just for practice. You cannot sell a copied piece of work but sometimes , when I am drawing something for the first time , I will copy an image to get me used to the subject. This can be useful but you should aim to create new art most of the time. I didn't realise when I was drawing this that it was an alpaca *face palm* so I wrote llama in fancy writing above. You can see that there are strange pen marks on this picture, this is because ink bled through onto it. To avoid this happening, you should put a piece of scrap paper under your work as you draw, the ink will collect on that instead of the next page.

For my next piece of art, I was inspired by a YouTube video. YouTube is a great platform for inspiration. I watched a DIY school supplies video which showed you how to decorate boring notebooks with simple things. I saw an amazing zentangle style notebook that I thought I could make. However I didn't have a plain notebook. To solve the problem, I just drew my design on paper. It was really fun to create my unique corner page doodle. Zentangle patterns and shapes come from your mind so every design turns out different. I used black fineliners to create this.

My 5th drawing was drawn without looking at any references. It is a pencil sketch of a very elegant cupcake. I drew the icing in layers of sausage shapes that got smaller as they got higher. The last layer was a cute swirl. To add a pretty touch, I drew two types of delicate sprinkles evenly over the cake. I drew a saucer after the cupcake which was a big mistake, as the cake is not central. For a finishing touch I created a swirly typography and used it to write out 'cupcakes..' above the picture. To help fill the space, I made it in a slight curve over the roundish cake shape. I think it may have looked better with pastel colours on it. It needs to stand out more so maybe colour would help?

I was inspired by some of Kenza's newest posts for this next coloured piece. At the moment I've been noticing that she has been drawing lots of fanart, so I did some of my own. however, unlike Kenza's, mine is fanart for a book! There aren't many pictures in the book I chose, so most of this is from my imagination. Cherry Crush by Cathy Cassidy is the book this piece was for. The first thing I did was to draw out the main character as I imagined her, in the centre of the page. I used descriptions from the book to create her outfit. I aren't happy with the way her face turned out. Also, the page kept flaking away as I coloured so the skinny jeans had white gaps all over. If I drew this again, I would use pens all over it. To fill the space, I drew little pictures that were part of the story and wrote related words all over the page with my fineliner. To create the border, I used kawaii washi tape to line the edges.

If you liked this post or are curious for more, please check out my blog MegansMega Blog. There's always something going on! There's lots of inspiration for all of your creative projects! Thanks to Kenza for letting me write for her amazing blog! If you would like to see what she wrote for my blog click the link here! Thanks for reading! Bye!

Kenza: Megan's style of art is really inspiring and creative and I think she's shared some really interesting tips here! I really enjoyed working on this collab with her and hope to do another some time in future. :D

Also, please do check out and enter the awesome giveaway contest Megan has on her blog! The prizes you can win are epic!! :D The deadline is 30th September and more details are on the original post.

✎ How I Draw Nala ✎

I promised I'd share the tutorial for how I draw Nala (The Lion King), so I did. :D Well, the rest says it. XD

Also, just an update... I have a new poll! :D The question is "What types of art would you like to see more of?". Please do vote if you can! As for the previous poll, it looks like Frozen got the most with 6 votes (so, I'll have to take that into consideration XD), then Spirited Away and Heroes of Olympus got 4 (wow) and Kung Fu Panda got 1 (*cries*)... omg wut? No one voted for HTTYD? Okay, I suppose it was multi-choice, so you could only pick one. :P Anyway, to conclude, if you can, please give some suggestions for fanart if you have any! It's not 100% likely I'll do what you suggest, but I'll try (if I know the fandom). :)

Hope you guys like this tutorial! 8D

Reference belongs to Disney's The Lion King. I don't take any credit for it.
Text font from

As always, I start with the eyes. Don't do the eyebrows or
anything, just the outline of the eyes!

Then the iris and eyebrows. Also, the section outside the
outline of the eyes that joins the eyebrows and eyes together
- whatever you want to call it.

Then the nose. (Getting to this point, I just realised
how many features Nala and Tigress share. O.O)

Then, the smile. :)

The picture speaks for itself haha get it. (no idk)

Next, start to draw on the outline of the face. (Make
sure there aren't any mistakes or you'll regret it

Okie, so, I started the ear in this one. I made it too short
here but corrected it later. Don't make that mistake! XD

Finished the outline of the head.

The other ear...

Aha! Now, the body. We're getting somewhere.

The white patch in the middle (lol, whatever its called) and
the beginning of the paw.

More of the paw (lol wut? XD)

Finished the paw. Try your best to get it right. You can
do that by checking it in relation to the other features
(say, in the reference, is the end of the paw on the same
line as the nose, yes it is). Some people use gridlines
but I can't be bothered. XD

The next paw... soo, I'd say you use the reference to
help you get it in the right place. Nala is resting her paw on-...
wait, they're in the Elephant Graveyard here, so she'd
be resting her paw on... uh... ahem, never mind. XD

I corrected the ear here. Then, *cough* that thing she's
got her paws on.
(*gasp*... :O)

Then the shading! :D I think I did that with a 2B pencil
(the rest as with a 2H). There isn't much to shade because
The Lion King is a 2D film. :3

Okay, so I decided to colour mine with my
Winsor & Newton Cotman WaterColours Sketchers' Pocket Box
but you guys (whoever's reading this idk XD) probably
prefer colouring pencils. I used ditto (lol) here because
they're not ordinary watercolours. :D (for the picture of
Tigress I was going to do a tutorial of, I did use ordinary
watercolours and totally messed up ._.).

For "whatever that bit in the middle is", I mixed together a
VERY pale yellow ochre (that coffee-coloured colour) using
a lot of white.

Then, the shading! I might've used yellow ochre for this.
Actually, yes, I'm pretty sure I did, because the fur colour
was a yellow ochre mixed with some white.

I did the outline (I recommend you do too) in yellow
ochre and the eyebrows.

Then the nose. In pink. Wait, no, I used that reddish-brown
colour with lots of white, I think.

The irises! :3

And then, I coloured that thing with the reddish-brown.
Wow, that did actually take forever just for a detail. XD
But it was worth it, because otherwise the picture didn't
work out.

Then, GET YOUR INK PENS. Mwa-ha-ha, yes, that's an
order. >:D Like I said before, ink pens make things stand
out. (Ha, well I'm pretty sure I did say so.)

Haha woohoo! YES, we're done. Well, I'm done.
Oh yeah, I added a quote Nala says there in the
Elephant Graveyard. The art of effectiveness. >:D
(Wait, wut? What happened to the 'W'?)

I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial! ^^ If you were inspired by this to draw your own, then don't be afraid to link me the picture below - I'd love to see it! :D

Have any ideas? Please do suggest them below! I’m also hoping to do Jasmine (Aladdin) and Tigress (Kung Fu Panda).
