Beautiful Braids

(Lol, that title.) This is a card I made for my cousin! :D I decided I wanted to share it step-by-step from when it wasn't coloured to when it was to when I added the lines with my calligraphy pens. So here it is! Tell me what you think of the results! ^^ (Okay, I didn't do Elsa very well in the second picture. O.O)

Top to bottom - Elsa (Frozen), Anna (Frozen), Astrid (How to Train Your Dragon (2))

  1. Wow! This is really good! I recently learned how to draw braids/plaits myself (I've always struggled with them in the past)-your drawings are really awesome! Are calligraphy pens basically fineliners? :)

    1. Aw, thanks so much, Mega!! :D That's awesome! Ikr? Braids can be really complicated to draw! >.< Yeah, I think so! I really don't know what to call them - calligraphy pens, fineliners, you pick. Although on the packet of mine, it says "calligraphy pens". XD

    2. You're very welcome! Yeah, especially different variations of them. I just need to practice a bit I think. :) Oh right, I see. I've always called them fineliners (I thought calligraphy pens were fancy handwriting pens before xD).

    3. Oh definitely! ^^' Me too. XD Oh okay! I think you can call them either. I don't know if I'm meant to use my calligraphy pens for going over my artwork, but I use them anyway, because they're really helpful. XD (Especially the XS Calligraphy pen! :D)

    4. I never knew before :) I sometimes use calligraphy pens/fineliners to go over my watercolour paintings (like you do with your pencil drawings). :D

    5. Oh awesome!! I never thought of doing that! :D
Also, instead of an XS Calligraphy Pen, you can use any pen with a tip of 0.05 to 0.1. ^^

  3. OMG Wow! They're so absolutely cute! Elsa's really perfect and looks really original. :) Did you make them from your memory of the movie, or did you put a picture of them in front of you and made it? However you did it, it's amazing!

    1. Aw, thank you so much, Fatima!! 8D I'm glad you think so. <3 The second; I used references for each of them - I'm definitely not capable of drawing them without references! XD Thanks so much! :D

  4. Whoa! Wow, Kenza! You really do have talent for drawing! Anna and Elsa look great! And the title, too! :D
The braids are great. Especially Elsa's-the hair flowing out of the braid must've bee difficult to draw. And the eyes are good, too. They're pretty close to the movie ones!
Happy Blogging!!! And Keep it up!!!

Yeah, it was really difficult to draw! XD Getting all the proportions right on a braid can be complicated. :/ You think so? Aw, thanks! <3
